2011 January Reading

I’ve decided to track my comic reading for 2011: this will be my first full year of reading graphic novels and collected editions only, no monthly comics.  Based on my reading last year books slipped by and I forgot them, which doesn’t work well for a writer and reviewer.  My goal is to provide a link where the book can be purchased, a short overview and a review to the book if I write one for Comic Book Daily.

Fantastic Four By Jonathan Hickman Volume 1

Fantastic Four By Jonathan Hickman Volume 2

Madwoman Of The Sacred Heart

Full review here.

West Coast Blues

Interesting take on violence, routine and their effects on one man’s life.  Rounded Jacques Tardi art.

Catwoman: Relentless

Early Brubaker stories of Catwoman and Slam Bradley with art by Stewart and Pulido.  Clean and simple art for a noir storyline.

Amazing Spider-Man: The Gauntlet Volume 2

Amazing Spider-Man: The Gauntlet Volume 4

King Of The Flies Volume 1

Bizarre David Lynch like story of city life from a bunch of bored teenagers and the very nasty turns life can take.  Art is dark and clean.

Green Lantern Corps: Emerald Eclipse

Stories leading up to Blackest Night; slices of life from the Corps.
